The Texas Lone Star Chapter awards up to three scholarships annually to students who excel and demonstrate leadership in their hospitality related programs. Eligable recipients must be a member of a Texas Lone Star Chapter affiliated Student Chapter (University of Houston- Cougar Chapter, and the University of North Texas- Eagle Chapter).
Applicants must be full time students (minimum class load of 12 semester hours or equivalent) at the time of application and award, and be a student in good standing, meeting the established criteria at the respective schools.
Each applicant must be an active member of the CMAA Student Chapter at their respective school at the time of application and award. CMAA member number required.
Each applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application and award. An official transcript is required to confirm.
An essay of no less than 500 words nor more than 750 covering areas such as, but not limited to, club employment history, reason for applying, local chapter involvement and contributions, goals in CMAA, and why you deserve the scholarship, etc. must be included with the application.
Each applicant must secure two letters of endorsement, one being from a Texas Lone Star Chapter member, to submit with their the application.
Applications must be postmarked by September 15th.
The Scholarship Committee will review all applications recieved by the deadline and award the scholarship at the Fall State Meeting in October. Applications recieved after the deadline or applications which are not complete, will not be considered. Awarded funds will go directly to the Universities in the student's name. No funds will be distributed directly to students.
